The course runs from September to July. Within that time you will be placed in a host school. Here you will have a professional mentor and a subject mentor. For one half term later in the year you will be placed in another school within the trust. This is to enable you to understand the different challenges facing different schools and how teaching has to adapt to fit this. You will also have shorter placements at a primary school, post-16 provider, special school and a pupil referral unit. There will be assignments to complete and work around your specialism to ensure your subject knowledge is at the necessary level.

Throughout the year you will collect evidence that shows you meet all of the Teaching Standards which will enable you to be awarded with QTS.

Your PGCE qualification will be completed online and includes three modules based around pedagogy and developing subject competence.
